The alley running north-south from 4th Street to eventually 7th Street is about to be rebuilt. Currently the alley has no drainage srtructures, ponds water and is severely beat up due to all the truck traffic servicing the Main Street businesses. The rebuilt alley will have an inverted crown, meaning a swale in the middle of the alley with new drainage inlets similar to that shon the pisture below. The bad news is that the alley improvements will require digging up and closing 5th Street again to tie in the alley drainage.

Tha Saturday Argenta Farmers Market is seeing stupendous growth. This past Saturday their were over 20 farmers and crowds from 7:00 am ''till noon when the market closed. Jody Hardin has tapped into a strong local foods initiative and we here in Argenta are fortunate he chose Argenta to feature the Certified Arkansas Farmers Market. Soon the Argenta Market may exceed the Farmers Market in the Rivermarket for number of vendors. We probably already surpass them in number of Arkansas based farmers. The Arts and Crafts Market next door to the Farmer's Market also had their second session this past Saturday and saw great traffic. Above is picture of the ribbon cutting for the second season of the Farmer's Maker this past Saturday.

Got this in my in box yesterday. If you missed the Party at the T you missed a lot of fun. And this is exactly the kind of buzz many are working so hard to create downtown. Come on down to Argenta....Live, Work, Play. Be a part of the fun!!
I had the best time ever this afternoon at Party on the T! Several friends of mine that I grew up with were in town for the Arkansas Art Gallery show, and then we walked down the street to check out the party. Seeing Mayor Hays, you and Scooby getting dunked was a LOT of fun. Several of these old friends of mine have never been in Argenta before and LOVED it! They kept commenting on how 'quaint' and friendly everyone was. Everyone had a great time and said they wanted to come back soon. (I of course showed them where they could live in a nice townhome if they ever decided to move into the area!)
Thanks for being a part of a fun afternoon. Oh, and thanks also for the wet hugs you were passing out after being dunked. It made the walk around Argenta 'refreshing'!

This non-descript windowless one story building in Sherman Park may be the most important building for the future of North Little Rock. This building houses a hub for Level(3) Communications which operates part of the internet backbone for the United States. You can see their backbone map here. This building has major national internet cables in it with bandwidth and speeds people in Silicon Valley only dream about.

A public hearing on the Pike Avenue roundabout has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 10th. The meeting will be held at City Hall at 300 Main Street and will start at 4:00 p.m. The meeting is expected to last until 7 p.m.
Robert Voyles, the city’s planning director, will be on hand, as well as representatives from the state Highway Department and the City’s street department.
If you use Pike Avenue regularly to get out of Argenta, you should go to this public hearing. The roundabout construction is scheduled to start in the next couple of months and will require detours on Pike, West Broadway and Riverfront. In other words, you will not able to exit Argenta to the west during the roundabout construction without likely encountering a detour. Be first to comment this article |

Mayor Hays spent over half an hour in a dunking booth Saturday afterrnoon at the Party at the T. Mayor Hays was a tremendous sport and I managed to dunk him once. Mayor Hays also manged to get me in the water himself, when I was in the booth right before him. The best pitcher was probably Brad William's (Argenta CDC Execrutive Director) son Tag who managed to put the Mayor in the water with two out of three throws.
