We have a star among us here in Argenta. One of our Argnta residents was caught on camera in a piece Channel 7 News did Sunday night on the Pulaski Heights neighborhood.  The downtiwn police substation on West Broadway got a new sign a few weeks ago. We miss our substation on Main Street, but just around the corner is almost as good. The new sign provides better visibility from the street and looks great.

Went down to the North Shore Riverwalk to get some miles in this evening, and noticed that all but a scant handful of the RVs are gone now. While I didn't make a close investigation, I'd say the grounds look pretty good given that a bunch of diesel-powered behemoths were parked on them for the last week or more. There are some shallow tire tracks and some brown spots, but no real ruts or torn up turf were evident. I'm sure some kind of cleanup and fixup will be necessary, but at first glance our nice riverfront park-that's-not-a-park seemed to escape the experience without much damage. Acocrding to reports the police have arrested Donald Scott Grace in the Saturday night death of a well known local transient lnown as Ace. Mr. Grace lives in an apartment at 500 Main Street. Apparenlty Ace died of blunt force trauma and Mr, Grace has been charged with 1st degree murder and is being held without bond at the Pulaski County Detention Center.
This death has stunned many in the neighborhood who knew both men and many cannot believe this happened. This is truly a tragic situation.

Saturday evening sometime after 7:00 pm an injured man was found on the sidewalk in front of Hardin & Grace Law Firm at 500 Main Street. The police had the 500 block of Main Street closed until well after 10:00 pm with the crime scene unit investigating the scene. Channel 7 on their 10:00 pm newscast identified the death as a homicide. According to people in the area, the victim was reportedly a well known local regular transient known as Ace.

There is a story on the Channel 7 news site about the increase in Argenta business from the RV Rally. Both Cregreens and the Wyndham apparently saw a significant increase in businees from the RV Rally. Click here for a link to the Channel 7 story. Did anyone else see a significant increase in business? Hopefully many did, as I heard from one of the volunteers that was on one of the FMCA committees, that the Chamber is floating the idea of hosting a future FMCA natioanal rally which could bring in over 4000 RVs to the City

In a quest to keep improve, I am making changes to the Argenta News web site. There was a lot of information on the front page much of which was not visiblle without scrolling. Also I wanted to make the site more useable to those not familiar with Argenta, so they could more easily find frequented businesses like bars, restaurants, art galleries, lodging tourist sites, etc.
The tabs just under the title block now have drop down menus with information and links specific to that tab. Bottom line....same information, jsut organized differently and hopefully easier to use. So, click and explore, but please be patient as we will be reworking the site for a few days.
