Agrenta is getting known for it's efforts at going green. Apparently someone set the porta pottie at the back of the Farmers Market in the 400 block of Main Street on fire in what may have been a failed attempt at converting waste to energy. Being an engineer, I can tell you these types of projects usually work on much larger scales. So PLEASE, don't set the porta potties on fire!!! It's NOT green.

(UPDATE) Check out the page 1 story on this in the Dem/Gaz today. This appears to be more a case of a very friendly judge than a jail overcrowding issue. Even the NLRPD was concened about the judge's deciision to lower the bond for Mr. Grace. According to the Dem/Gaz this wes the second lowest bond for murder issued recently by this judge and the one person with the lowest bond issued stayed in jail because he couldn't make bail. The next lowest bond recently issued was for five times the amount of the Mr. Grace's bond. The article does not explain the judges decision to eliminate the electronic monitoring and the 10 out of 24 hours a day Mr. Grace will be unsupervised and unmonitored. Is justice really blind in this case?
According to the NLR Times, Donald Scott Grace is back home in his apartment in Argenta. Originally held with no bond, Mr. Grace's bond wes reduced from no bond to a $25,000 bond with electronic monitoring. Yesterday, NLR Judge Hamilton renoved the electronic monitoring of Mr. Grace and instead Mr. Grace will be supervised every hour from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in person and by telephone hourly from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It appears Mr. Grace will be unsupervised from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am

I have noticed the numerous pieces on television media as well as in the Dem-Gaz and NLR Times reporting what a success the RV Rally was for North Little Rock. Interviews with one or two people and declarations by politicians or Chamber of Commerce leaders do not make it a success. One has to wonder where all of these media sources were in the initial days of RV Rally with the traffic tie-ups, electrical problems and initially disgruntled RVers. Where were these media sources when the RVers were in town? How many actually interviewed RVers and the local businesses during the event itself?
The Dem/Gaz reported on September 30th, that five randomly selected expense reports from RVers showed an average of $1200 spent per RV. This is far less than $3000 to $5000 per RV projected before the Rally.

Perhaps next time the City installs a bollard in front of City Hall iit will actually prevent trucks from running over the flower beds in front of City Hall. Remember this bollard?
This was actually the second bollard installed. The first bollard attempt was big steel pipe about 12 inches in diameter that looked more like a piling for a dock that could anchor the submarine.

There are only four days left to register to vote in the November election. With all the new people moving in to Argenta at the Enclave and in the neighborhood it is important to be registered to vote and then vote. Even if you are registered in another part of NLR, you should send in a voter registration form with your new address. We in Argenta vote at City Hall and this Fall we will get to vote for a city alderman to represent us on the NLR City Council. This is a VERY important office to Argenta as our alderpersons can help get things done here and sponsor legilslation that affects Argenta.
Click here for a link to print out the voter registration forms and then make sure you take them to the Pulaski County Clerk's office on Markham across from the Doubletree before Monday.
