City staff finished installing the third bollard to be installed in front of City Hall as shown in this picture. The first two bollards didn't survive truck hits. Anyone want to start a pool on how long this bollard lasts? Perhaps, pick a date for a dollar and the winner wit the date closest to the date this bollard bites the dust gets the pot?

The Race for the Cure will be held tomorrow morning and the race course goes through Argenta. After crossing the Broadway Bridge into Argenta the course turns right on Broadway and proceeds east to Maple Street where a right turn puts the racers back across the river on the Main Street Bridge. Go check it out, it is a spectacle. For a good watch place, I would suggest the ballpark. The Mayor is usually on a fire truck in the bucket with the ladder extended cheering on the race participants with a megaphone.

Our fellow neighborhood group in Amboy has announced its annual block party; here's the info if anyone wants to attend and show support:
We at the New Amboy Neighborhood Association would like to extend a formal invitation to you and your representatives. We will be having a Block party on Saturday October 18th, at 260 Military Road. That is the Parking lot of the Bookkeeping Plus on Military road. The Party will start at 1:00 pm. We would love to have representatives from every Neighborhood group and whomever you represent. Bring some literature about your particular organization to hand out. We are really expecting a large crowd. People in the area are really excited about our new association and the response is getting a little overwhelming. Candidates have been invited and all have confirmed. They will be allowed to speak after 2:00 pm. We hope you all can find time to attend, if not for the full thing, drop by and show some support for our efforts. We want to meet you all, and hope that we can all work together for a better NLR. Respectfully, Paul Myrick Amboy Neighborhood Association Be first to comment this article |

Thanks to my friends over Levy Project 3.0 for sending me this image. The PAL Haunted House at the old Baptist Hospital on the hill at the west end of Pershing has opened. I strongly reccomend everyone go. This is really scary and well worth the cost. In addition, you are helping support Police Athletic League programs for youth all over NLR.
