Post Office Kept Dark PDF Print E-mail

In an apparent cost saving measure, the Argenta Post Office on Main Street has been turning off all the lights after darl. Thus means after dark, the inside of the post office is nearly pitch black and it is virtually impossible to even see your post office box to get the key in the keyhole. The front door of the post office is kept unlocked for 24 hour access for customers to access their post office boxes.

A pitch black interior and open front door, just asks for vandalism and homeless sleep ins. But then again, perhaps that would help the Post Office justify closing the Argenta Post Office. Even if it is just a cost saving measure, is it wise to save a pennies on the electric bill for possible repairs that could cost thousands of dollars if vandals strike?

Post Office after dark

Just another example of your government at work. Speaking of a working government. Has work started on the trolley barn expansion? Last time I heard anything from CATA work was to start the first of July. They said they were waiting on the contract to be signed.
Not a government agency...

The post office is no longer a federal agency of the government. Hasn't been since the 70s, meaning your tax dollars do not support it.

...rumor has it that there are now affordable detox programs for people who appear to watch the FOX news channel too much. There are no guarantees you will be cured but they say there's a good chance of coming out of the program with at least some increased perception of the truth.

Forget to say what I really meant to say re: The Post Office. I think it should be spared from closure just because it's a beautiful building and is a CLASS Post Office. It should be declared Historic and always be what it is. They should close the old 7-11 and Magic Marts converted to Post Offices in the late eighties before they come anywhere near closing this one.

The USPS is a independent agency wholly owned by the U.S. government and under the control of its board of governors. This board is appointed by the President. I never said anything about taxpayer money. It has some of the same powers as the U.S. Mint. The Mint is the only organization than can print money and the Post Office is the only organization than can handle first class mail.

"Independent agency" - your previous post implied they were a government agency which is a common misconception. And when people say, "just another example of your government at work," it usually implies misuse of tax dollars.

You guys are missing the point. Use the post office as often as you can. Write letters asking that it remain open. Call people.

None of that will help amymelisa. This is a done deal. Perhaps the admiral should lob a few rounds over the bow of the postmaster to get their attention, then he should march in to their office and proclaim, "Don't you know who I am? I am the almighty and exalted leader of all things good and you shall do as I say--Got it buster?" I bet that would take care of it for you. Call him up. He's our servant remember? You elected him.

amymelisa... I DID send an email directly to the United States Postal Service Inspector General's Office.

I asked them to NOT close the Downtown Argenta Post Office. I hope it helps.
