The City is remodelling the former offices of Neighborhood Services in the first floor of City Hall to house the City's new Stimulus Director, Michael Drake and his staff. The City is spending significant money ripping out the carpet, removing walls and redoing the floors among other things as shown in the picture above.
These offices were fine for Neighborhood Services for years, so why remodel now and spend the money? Why won't the City spend a few hundred dollars (a fraction of what they are spending on the Stimulus Director's offices) to add a page to the City's web site to keep citizens informed of what stimulus money the City is recieving and where it is being spent? Little Rock does this, why not us?

Of course, it may just be an opportune time to remodel this space, given the change over. However isn't it even a more opportune time to be transparent and keep citizens informed of the millions of dollars the City is receiving in stimulus money.
Follow the money, it tells where the priorities are
- Spend a few hundred dollars to create a new page on the City's web site to keep citizens informed.....LOW PRIORITY
- Spend a few thousand dollars to remodel a City office that was adequate for years....HIGH PRIORITY
Written by nlrkid, on 30-04-2009 07:13 I'm gonna quit griping about Hays. It's obvious he is so much smarter than anyone else, we ought to just change to a dictatorship and let things roll! |
Written by NLRockette, on 30-04-2009 08:21 I'm with you....apparently this country is going to continue to fund the stimulus expansions with money from China on the backs of slave and poverty wages, to be paid back by posterity - forever and ever. So have at whatever and forget about streets and drain and other small stuff. |
federal Regs Written by argentienne, on 30-04-2009 09:32 The requirements for publication of available ARRA funds and quarterly reporting of expenditures are spelled out clearly. hopefully NLR won't run afoul of the law and have to give the money back.... |
More wasted $$ Written by fridaymom, on 30-04-2009 10:39 Just another fine example of taxpayer money being wasted on the enrichment of Hay's 'yes men'. Sad! |
