A loyal reader called me over the weekend irate as hell that the American flag at the Argenta Square Apartments was apparently being flown at half mast and upside down. The reader thought someone was trying to make a political statement with an upside down flag, usually meaning distress. This flag has been flying this way for several days on one of the busiest corners downtown with thousands of commuters going by this corner twice a day in rush hour.

Close inspection of the flag pole, in fact shows the attachment of
the top of the flag to the flag pole rope is apparently broken allowing
the top of the flag to fall and make it appear the flag is flying
upside down and half mast. Apparently no one with the mamagement of
the Argenta Square Apartments pays that much attention to the flag
since it has been flying this way for several days. According to the
reader, the same thing happened last year and they had to call
management then.
This is no way to treat an American flag. So no
distress here, just poor oversight. Don't jump on the owner of Argenta
Square, the Argenta CDC. They have a full time mamagement company run
Argrnta Square, but this is still a poor reflection on the Argenta CDC
and Argenta in general. since most of those commuters have no idea this
is the responsibility of the management company.
