During the Obama rally Friday afternoon, I was supriised by the agressive management of the press. NLR Times reporter Jeremy Peppas was walking though the crowd and stopped to talk with me and my wife. While talking with us, a party operative came up to Jeremy and told him all press were required to stay in the encloised press area. When quizzed if he could just work the crowd, we were told succinctly, No. This is a picture of Jeremy in press jail. Don't worry about Jeremy. His friends aoccasionally came up and consoled him.
Seems a bit heavy handed for a campaign stressing it's grass roots efforts. Why not have the press walking among the grass?
I guess freedom of the press Written by Rick, on 25-10-2008 12:23 means the press is free to do as it's told. I wonder if Jeremy will include this in his article? Was he outraged as a journalist at being told who he could and couldn't talk to? |
