Truck fire on Willow Street PDF Print E-mail

Just as I arrived home at 3 p.m. today, I noticed a couple of fire trucks down the street. Upon investigation I discovered they'd been called in to extinguish this Ford Ranger pickup, which had somehow caught fire. They were still trying to sort out how it happened (and politely asked me to step out of the street, lest I scuff up some burn marks that might turn up clues). Nobody was injured in the blaze.

How very handy it is to have the main fire station literally in your neighborhood....

How handy, Indeed. And that's exactly what the Park Hill folks think as well... for now, anyways....
Kudos to the City Crews

My sister and I were among the first on the scene today when the truck caught fire on Willow Street. We called 911 and watched the firefighters extinguish the blaze. It was no small fire, and we kept a safe distance, fearful the gas tank might explode. The firefighters arrived promptly and put the fire out. While I'm on the subject of jobs well done, I want to commend the NLR Electric Dept and the Street Dept for taking care of the power outage and the broken tree branches that blocked the alley behind my house after the windstorm last weekend. In the middle of the night the Electric Dept replaced a damaged transformer, and when the Street Dept picked up the mountain of fallen branches, they cleared away a bunch of unsightly/overgrown shrubs. When they finished their work, the alley was a thousand times cleaner than it's ever been. That's typical for the NLR workers who collect trash, repair power lines and take care of our streets. They go above and beyond the call of duty. They deserve high praise.
