In your next water bill you should receive notice of the North Little Rock Fire Department's schedule of hydrant testing. It'll happen all through October in different parts of the city. Argenta's hydrants will be tested between Oct. 13 and 18, along with everyone else south of I-40 and west of I-30. So if you see an open hydrant then, that's why. One possible side-effect of this is manganese will be stirred up in the water lines, and that can discolor your tap water. The flyer notes that such water is safe to drink but CAN STAIN CLOTHING, so make sure you check your water before doing the laundry. If your water is discolored for more than an hour, call Central Arkansas Water at 377-1239.
