Project Runway, Season 5, Episode 6 written by rhonda from canvasjunkie.com With Ru Paul as guest judge you could expect no less than a challange to design an outfit for a drag queen. The designers took turns picking their model from a group of drag queens with names like Heada Lettuce and Sweetie.
Korto chose Sweetie, I assume because she had stated earlier in the show she did often design with full figures in mind. With a $200 budget and 30 minutes to aquaint herself with Sweetie, Korto took a mad dash, grabbing glistening fabric in shades of bright reds and oranges. The sparkly red and orange fabric curling over the shoulder on one side was balanced by the almost bare shoulder on the other. The element of surprise was that the poufy overskirt was removable and revealed a tight, short skirt. Ru Paul as well as the other judges were very pleased with the design and finished product, proving that Korto could create a great design even outside her comfort zone.
