Dear Jerry,
Thank you for honoring our invitation to come to the NLAN Meeting last Monday evening. Your talk on the NLR Peddler's Licensed ID Card was most welcomed and the Q & A that followed shed additional light on this subject and raised the following four discussion points on making improvements to the license for verification purposes :
1) Listing on the ID card's front face a sequential Peddler License Number issued by your department, to be
posted along with the other data currently illustrated. This number would be listed in your department's
data base and available to employees in addressing any citizen's inquiry for verification purpose during
the department's normal working hours.
2) Listing your department's phone number on the ID card, to be called by a citizen to verify the
peddler's ID card as being authentic. Suggestion to read: "If required please call (phone #) to verify
this Peddler's License ID Card is approved by the City of North Little Rock." Once again your
department's normal working hours would apply.
3) For work-day after hours and weekends: A Peddler Business License department data base
would be established and programmed to automatically take a citizen's phone call verification inquiry
using the established license number and name listed on the ID card.
Note: Why not install an automatic directory for incoming phone calls to run all inquires for peddler ID
license verification directly through the department's data base? This would allow citizens to obtain
this information via phone regardless to time and day and free up you and your department
employees!
4) Develop the ability to access this license number data base online for citizens using the web as the
means for verification.
At our meeting it was encouraging to have Mayor Hays address this subject by stating: "We're trying to give our neighborhoods as much protection as possible"! We know his goal is your goal and your efforts to accomplish this will be appreciated not only by NLAN but by all neighborhoods in our fine City of North Little Rock.
