I'm late getting this up, and I apologize for that. Last week Christine Slocomb called me to report there had been a burglary near where she lives, in the 800 block of orange. It was reported to the police, who did get a couple of fresh fingerprints from the scene. Taken were a flat screen monitor, keyboard, speakers and mouse. The house was ransacked in the process. Christine says it's believed the incident occured in the late afternoon or evening, between 4:30 and 8 p.m. Entry was gained by prying open the back door with a screwdriver.

Remember, folks -- even though we live in one of the lowest-crime neighborhoods in this city, sadly there is no such thing as a no-crime neighborhood. Keep a weather eye out on your neighbors' homes and call 911 if you see anything suspicious. That's especially important for anyone who, like me, works from their house or otherwise is home during the day -- we're here when most people are gone, so we're more likely to catch the daytime activities of the criminal class if and when they happen.
