Lincoln to Travel Arkansas Next Week

Stops set for Little Rock, Fort Smith, North Little Rock, Batesville, Blytheville, Jonesboro, West Memphis

 

Washington – U.S. Senator Blanche Lincoln will travel across Arkansas next week during Congress’ annual August work period. As part of her travel, Lincoln will visit the Two Pines Landfill in North Little Rock and Future Fuels in Batesville to highlight Arkansas’s role in moving our country toward greater energy independence. The following is a detailed list of her schedule for Aug. 11-13:

 

Monday, August 11—Little Rock, Fort Smith

 

9:00 a.m., Peanut Butter Brunch at the Arkansas Foodbank Network, Little Rock – Lincoln will join staff members of the Arkansas Foodbank Network to accept a donation from Skippy Peanut Butter of 36,000 jars of peanut butter. Following the presentation, local chefs will serve gourmet peanut butter sandwiches for community guests and friends. Lincoln is the co-founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Senate Hunger Caucus. 6:00 p.m., An Evening with Your Senators, Fort Smith – Lincoln and Senator Mark Pryor will meet with members of the Sebastian County Democratic Committee for their annual event. Holiday Inn City Center, 700 Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith.

 

Tuesday, August 12 – North Little Rock, Batesville, Blytheville

 

9:30 a.m., Two Pine Landfill, North Little Rock – Lincoln will help launch the official opening of Arkansas’s only “landfill gas-to-energy” facility and announce a new partnership with Audubon Arkansas. In 2006, Lincoln and other members of the Congressional delegation visited Two Pines and called on President Bush to make energy independence a top priority for his administration. 11:00 a.m., YMCA Seniors’ Potluck, North Little Rock – Lincoln will speak to Central Arkansas senior citizens on “Setting a New Course for an Aging America.” Lincoln will also answer questions from group members, who plan to congratulate Lincoln on receiving the Congressional Leadership Award from the American Geriatric Society. YMCA, 6101 JFK Blvd., North Little Rock.

 

1:00 p.m., ACHANGE Meeting, Little Rock – Lincoln will meet with members of ACHANGE, the Arkansas Coalition of Housing and Neighborhood Growth for Empowerment. ACHANGE supports education, provides training, encourages responsible growth and sustainability, and influences public policy.  UALR, Bailey Center, Little Rock.

 

3:00 p.m., Future Fuels, Batesville – Lincoln will visit Future Fuels Chemical Company. Future Fuels, 2800 Gap Road, Batesville.

 

5:00 p.m., Farm Bureau Open House, Blytheville – Lincoln will discuss the newly enacted Farm Bill with Farm Bureau members from Northeast Arkansas. Ramey Activities Center, Arkansas Aeroplex on Memorial Drive (Formerly Eaker Air Force Base), Blytheville.

 

6:30 p.m., Summer Supper, Blytheville Chamber of Commerce – Lincoln will speak to the Blytheville Chamber of Commerce about the national economy and economic growth in Arkansas. Blytheville Country Club, Highway 61 North, Blytheville.

 

Wednesday, August 13 – Jonesboro, West Memphis

 

8:00 a.m., Arkansas Biosciences Institute, Jonesboro – Lincoln will tour Arkansas Biosciences Institute at Arkansas State University.  504 University Loop East, Room 101, Arkansas State University, Jonesboro.
