There have been many people and groups working hard to make Argenta great over the years. They have worked very hard to improve Argenta's reputation since the dark days of the early 90's. Repuations are easy to ruin and very hard to change in people's minds, once it is bad. The ADC has been been helping improve Argenta's reputation most recently with the flowers, ambassadors and marketing of Argenta.
Now as residents, business owners and employees it is our turn. Every resident, business owner and employee who works in Argenta should fill out the "Best of Central Arkansas" ballot on page 6B of Sunday's Dem/Gaz. Business owners can pick up additonal ballots at the Dem/Gaz office at 121 East Capitol and give them out to their employees. We can vote for Argenta busineses in the following best of categories: bar, busines lunch, fine dining, hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian Food, Patio/Outdoor, Wine selection, seafood. steakhouse, sushi, bank, furniture store, pharmacy, sports team, place to ride a bike, walking trails, bed & breakfast, hotel, library and Park
It does not take a lot of votes in most of these categories and we can get several Argenta businesses voted the "Best of". I've got my ballot, get yours!!!
already starting to sound like a pol Written by Pygface, on 07-07-2008 18:02 Isn't this exactly what you criticized Main Street Argenta for doing some months ago? I seem to recall you railing against Michael Drake as best public employee and Mary Ann Hodge as best something or other. 'Splain the difference or be branded a hypocrite! |
Your own Friendly Fix is what you're ca Written by Pygface, on 07-07-2008 18:04 yup. found it http://www.argentanews.com/Argenta-Entertainment/The-Friendly-Fix.html I call hypocrite. |
Selective Reading Written by scottmiller, on 07-07-2008 21:23 You are entitled to your opinion, but the post you refer to criticizes Main Street Argenta for apparently only promoting their friends, not ALL the businesses in Argenta. This post asks people to support all Argenta businesses. Here are some quotes from the previous post you reference. "I'll leave it to you to decide if this is a coincidence or "friendly fix" Not that stuffing the ballot box is illegal, wrong or anything. These sort of publications are just basically so the Times can sell ad space anyway. But one may wonder if it was "friendly fix" why didn't more Argenta businesses or Main Street Argenta Board members win?" "Hey guys, next time let's get more Argenta business winners" I will leave it to the readers of this site and citizens of Argenta to decide whether I am being a hypocrite and whether Mr. Drake has been good for Main Street Argenta and Argenta in general. |
shenannigans Written by Pygface, on 08-07-2008 18:49 Your argument is a difference without a distinction. You are presuming that other, frankly more interesting, categories didn't receive a diversity of votes; enough for which there to be actual competition. Hell, maybe you're right, even. But it's wrong to say throw those accusations around without proof. As I've said before, this blog is little more than a tool for you to promote the work of the ADC, Boosters and Gaudin/V3 - exactly the same brush you're painting those you aren't fans of with. I do not dispute your right to promote causes that you support, what I take issue with is the fact that you castigate others for thing you didn't get to first. Example first, this thread. Example deuce, flower beds & the master gardeners (yours were better, there's were embarrassing you implied) The list continues. All of this when there's issues of Central Arkansas Water & a commissioner appointment rubber stamped by Mayor TIF, where nary a word is posted about that. There's water issues in Argenta too. And don't tell me Sumerset (or whatever - Spin Doctors Suck) pays for all that's going on in for which you write about. You've got a handful of people writing big checks to promote their self-interest. Again, fine; but quit peeing on my leg & telling me it's raining. |
