NLR has decided to move some of the larger concert events from Riverfront Park at the foot of Willow Street to the area between the I-30 Bridge and the Rock Island Bridge. This area is shown in the photograph below. This is a very large flat area with room for well over the approx. 10,000 limit in the narrow grass area at Willow Street. This decision to move to the new area was prompted by problems with EdgeFest a few weeks ago. This move is not anticipated to affect Riverfest, buit will affect large concerts and events that are to held on the river. The advantages of the new location are many and include: - Larger area for bigger crowds
- No interference with bikers and walkers on the River Trail
- Less traffic and parking in the Argenta residential neighborhood
- Less noise at the Wyndham & the Argenta residential neighborhood
- Less conflicts with ballgames at Dickey-Stephens
- Less damage to the heavily used part of the park at Willow Street
Sounds like a pretty good idea! What do you think?
