On a recent post about the trolley barn one our readers made the following comment

"A few weeks ago I was on the trolley and the driver pointed out the new CAT advertising. After a rider ask why there wasn't other advertising the driver said that CAT did not accept other advertising. I know you have brought this up before but it looks to me that they are missing out on a way to increase revenue."

 The lack of advertising and loss of revenue to Central Arkansas Transit (CAT) was one of the first issues brought up on this site when we started back in September of 2006. At that time I was told advertising just hadn't been a priority and the CAT board would be setting rates and policies soon.  I also followed up on this issue several months later.  Well, soon CAT will begin the third year of trolley operations, with no ads other than for CAT's own trinkets.  

I love the trolley and I belive the trolley is one of the major reasons Argenta has blossomed.  My family rides the trolley on average at least once or twice weekly and CAT has greatly increased the schedule and operation of the trolley.  But why is CAT refusing to obtain revenue, which is out there and easy to get.  I own a business on the trolley line and would be interested in advertising on the trolley.  CAT themselves has told me they get calls for advertising on the trolleys.  Perhaps, this Fall when CAT comes to the LR and NLR city councils there will be citizens there to recommend reducing the city contribution to CAT by the tens of thousands of dollars CAT could be getting in trolley advertising money if they only tried.
